Maintenance

when the amount of raising is less than 2” and the amount of throw
necessary for realignment is less than 0.1 foot. Any additional ballast
necessary will be paid for under Item 5.5.9 Ballast - Furnish and
Place.

maintained, based on measured distance of the centerline of track

Inspector
This item shall consist of inspecting while walking the track and
‘providing Purchaser with a written report of track and switch conditions
within seven (7) days.

basis.

This item shall consist of furnishing oil, properly oiling switches
and advising Purchaser in writing within seven (7) days of the switches
serviced.
- Measurement Payment will be made on the basis of oiling all switches once each
week.

5.5.37 Thermite Welded
Joints
This item shall consist of furnishing necessary materials and equipment
and performing “Thermite” welding of joints.
- Measurement Payment: will be made for each "Thermite"
welded joint.

- This item shall consist of placing 6 to 8 switch oil
heaters at each switch, 3 or 4 between ties under each side of switch at
onset of winter weather and removal, repair and storage in the spring.
Heaters are to be fueled and lighted prior to winter storms and continue
to be refueled and lighted each day until weather conditions improve.
Fuel oil for heaters is to be furnished by the Contractor.

- Measurement Payment:
will be made for refueling and lighting on the basis of
a refill for all heaters for all switches designated to be equipped with
switch oil heaters. Payment for placement, removal, repair and storage
of all heaters will be made on the basis of a lump sum per year, and
paid as follows: 60% for placement at onset of winter; 20% for removal
in the spring; and 20% for repair and storage.

This item shall consist of blowing, sweeping or shoveling
snow out of switches as necessary and spraying with calcium chloride
during inclement winter weather. Calcium chloride is to be furnished by
the Purchaser from a storage tank located at the Coke Plant
Gate.
Measurement Payment:
will be made for spraying switches on the basis of each spraying of all
switches designated to be sprayed.

5.5.40 Track Cleaning
Contractor shall provide all necessary
supervision, labor, equipment and tools necessary to clean railroad tracks
of miscellaneous materials down to the top of the ties for track
maintenance. Removed debris is to be segregated and accumulated in either
scrap boxes as provided or in piles along the tracks for removal by
others. Dirt and ‘debris is to be disposed of at a site to be designated
by Purchaser.
